As the pioneering club of Mount Ruapehu, we have been exploring the mountain since 1913, making us the oldest ski club in New Zealand and one of the earliest in the world. Our club offers a unique and traditional skiing experience that has stood the test of time.

When you stay at The Hut, you have the opportunity to enjoy year-round adventures. In the summer, you can embark on thrilling hiking, biking, and trail running excursions, including the famous Tongariro Crossing. We even offer summer memberships for kids, allowing them to join for free and experience the beauty of the mountain all year long.

The accommodation at The Hut consists of four lodges, all of which are perfect for school groups. Located on the slopes of Whakapapa ski field, you can ski from your doorstep after enjoying a hearty breakfast prepared by our resident chefs. In addition to our ski field lodges, we also have lodges located in Whakapapa Village and Ohakune. One of our unique offerings is our live-in Swiss ski instructor, a tradition that has been a part of the club for over 40 years. This instructor provides a level of expertise and instruction that is unparalleled in New Zealand, offering members a truly exceptional skiing experience.
