For those looking to delve deeper into the practise of Tai Chi, Rugby Tai Chi Club offers the Tai Chi Chuan – The Full System for complete beginners. The class takes place on Thursday evenings at Rugby United Reformed Church. There are two options for this class. Option 1 is from 6:30 pm to 7:30 pm, with a drop-in fee of 10 or a monthly fee of 30.
Option 2 is from 6:30 pm to 8:30 pm and has a drop-in fee of 13 or a monthly fee of 45.
Complete beginners in this class will learn simple fundamental exercises and movement patterns that teach them how to move in the Tai Chi way. These exercises help to connect the body and mind and develop a relaxed, calm, and energised state. The class starts with warm-up exercises to loosen the body, followed by standing postures with slow, gentle movements to calm the mind and create a deep state of relaxation. Tai Chi movement drills are taught to support students in learning the fundamental techniques essential to good practise.
The Tai Chi Form is broken down into smaller sections, with each posture described in detail. With practise, the movements become fluid like flowing water. The second class of the evening focuses on fast and explosive Fajin movements, pushing hands partner exercises, self-defence applications, and sometimes includes weapons forms.
For those seeking the highest level of internal martial arts practise, Rugby Tai Chi Club offers the Zhang Sanfeng - Wudang Internal System. This class teaches the main solo forms of the Wudang Internal system, which was created by Zhang Sanfeng and serves as the origin of all other internal styles. It encompasses the highest levels of self-defence and healing.
