Scott Richards, PGA Teaching Professional, is a highly experienced golf instructor based in Truro, Cornwall. With a diploma in Golf Psychology and specialised training in InnerCaddy lessons, Scott is one of the top PGA professionals in the UK.
Scott's passion for golf began later in life, as he started playing the sport at the age of 15. Within three years, he achieved a handicap of 4 and turned professional in 1993. He completed his PGA Course at West Cornwall Golf Club and passed his final exams in 1997. He then moved to Bristol to work at the Kendleshire Golf Club, where he established himself as a full-time coach catering to all levels, from beginners to professionals.
One of Scott's main areas of focus is Junior Golf, and he is actively involved in running his own Junior Golf Academy. He is dedicated to bringing new and enthusiastic golfers to the game and provides expert coaching services tailored to their needs.
Apart from being a PGA Qualified Teaching Pro, Scott also holds a Diploma in Sports Psychology and has attended various seminars on topics such as Body in Golf, Golf Psychology, and Coaching Structures. He continues to enhance his skills by taking lessons from Denis Pugh, who is known for coaching professional golfer Colin Montgomerie.
Scott has had a successful career in the golf industry, including serving as the Head Professional at Truro Golf Club since May 2013. Prior to that, he worked as a Teaching Professional at Carlyon Bay Golf Club in Cornwall and at the Kendleshire Golf Club in Bristol. He became a Class AA PGA Professional in 2012 and has held positions at Cape Cornwall Golf and Country Club, as well as being the Captain for Gloucestershire and Somerset in 2005.
Scott is proud to offer InnerCaddy lessons, a unique golf psychology learning programme. As one of only nine InnerCaddy coaches in the country, he provides players with the opportunity to develop the mental resilience and focus needed for peak performance on the course. The programme breaks down the mental game into six distinct mental clubs, teaching players how to play each one effectively. By improving their mental game, players can overcome common challenges such as anxiety, inability to recover from a bad shot, and difficulty performing under pressure.
Scott believes that through InnerCaddy lessons, golfing standards worldwide can be transformed. The techniques taught are simple, yet highly effective and easy to learn, regardless of a player's current handicap. As Denis Pugh, renowned coach and Sky Sports Golf Guru, attests, InnerCaddy lessons can revolutionise a player's golfing experience by providing them with the mental skills necessary for success on the course.
