Established in September 1994 by Sensei Heather Fidyk and Sensei Darren Fidyk. The club is dedicated to serving the Southern Calgary communities by offering classes, workshops, and tournaments. South Calgary Wado Kai Karate is a proud member of the Shintani Wado Kai Karate Federation.
The club provides classes for beginners starting at age 6 through adults. Students have the opportunity to test for new belt ranks twice a year, with black belt dan gradings held annually in Alberta. Shindo (short staff) training is available for students at the orange belt level and above. The club also offers competitive training for those interested in high-performance karate.
Additionally, there is a “Just for Kicks” program designed for children ages 3-5.
At South Calgary Wado Kai Karate, the philosophy is centred around the improvement of health, fitness, and martial arts knowledge for all students. The club is a non-profit organization, with a dedicated group of black belts who volunteer their time and expertise to help all students improve their karate skills.
