Chris believes anyone can train at the South Gloucestershire Karate Academy. The club is family-friendly, welcoming all ages, genders, abilities, and fitness levels. Kids as young as five can join in. Chris’s mission is to create a welcoming space for everyone to learn and practise karate.
At the academy, they emphasise the Wado-Ryu style but also invite those studying other styles to join. With experienced, fully insured instructors, Chris ensures everyone's safety and well-being.
The academy offers a robust training programme covering all aspects of karate, including self-defence. Throughout the year, they host courses and competitions—though participants can choose their level of involvement.

Another option in the Clevedon/Yatton area is North Somerset Wado Kai (NSWK). It’s a family-friendly, volunteer-run, not-for-profit club teaching Wado-Ryu karate for grading, self-defence, and competition. They follow a ten-grade system below black belt, known as Kyu grades.
