Sport Climbing Queensland (SCQ) is a sports club based in Brisbane, Australia. As the controlling body responsible for the administration of sport climbing in Queensland, SCQ works in collaboration with Sport Climbing Australia and local partners to fulfil the objectives of the sport at a state level.
SCQ offers a unique and innovative membership option called the 10 Trip Pass, created in partnership with Sport Climbing Australia. This pass allows both members and non-members to visit various participating climbing facilities across Queensland. Passes can either come pre-defined with visits already allocated or can be customised by the user to select the facilities they want to visit. Non-members who purchase a 10 Trip Pass also receive a free year's membership to Sport Climbing Australia.
To use the pass, users simply purchase it, download the SCA App from the app store, and scan in at the participating facility on their pass.
In addition to the 10 Trip Pass, SCQ organises and hosts several significant events throughout the year. In 2023, there are four major competitions scheduled: the QLD Open Boulder Titles at Core Carrara on May 6th and 7th, the QLD Open Lead Titles at Beta Blvd on June 17th and 18th, the QLD Youth Boulder Titles at Flow Bouldering on August 12th and 13th, and the QLD Youth Lead Titles at Core Cornubia on October 7th and 8th. These events attract climbers from all over Queensland and offer exciting opportunities to showcase skills and compete at a high level.
SCQ is committed to supporting its members and the climbing community in Queensland. Membership benefits include access to all SCQ activities organised by the state committee, participation in state and national SCA sanctioned competitions (national membership required), and the opportunity to participate in international competitions sanctioned by the International Federation of Sport Climbing (IFSC) with the appropriate licence application.
As an organisation, SCQ recognises and acknowledges the Traditional Custodians of the land and pays respect to their elders past, present, and emerging. In the spirit of reconciliation, SCQ extends this respect to all Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples.
