Stanmore Bowls Club

Stanmore Bowls Club is a prominent bowling club located in Stanmore, New Zealand. Established in 1942, the club has been a welcoming community for both experienced bowlers and newcomers to the sport. Membership at Stanmore Bowls Club is open to both men and women, with free coaching provided by qualified members who are accredited by the English Bowls Coaching Society. The outdoor bowls season runs for five months, from late April to the end of September or early October. As an affiliated club, Stanmore Bowls Club participates in various leagues, including Bowls England, Middlesex Bowling Association, Harrow and District Bowling Association, and the Finchley and North London Bowling Association for ladies only. It is important for members to refer to their fixture cards or the Rink Diary online to ensure availability, as all-day club events and coaching sessions may reduce or eliminate access to certain rinks.

The club's seven rinks are arranged daily by the Green Rangers, with assistance from members. The green is typically cut on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays, with completion by 10 am. Please note that the Green Contractor may occasionally finish work later and shall be given priority.

Roll-up sessions are held daily from 10 am, 2 pm, and 4:30 pm, except Mondays when the popular Monday League utilises all six rinks. For evening sessions starting at 4:30 pm, members must obtain an entry code and assume responsibility for handling equipment, securing the premises, and ensuring all electric items are turned off. The electric fence, which serves as a deterrent for foxes, operates on an automated timer and is turned off from 8:15 am to 8:00 pm.

Stanmore Bowls Club comprises a dedicated committee responsible for overseeing various aspects of the club's operations. The 2024 officers include President Gerald Diamond, Club Captain Gary Lux, Vice Captain Doug Greenston, Secretary Colin Wagner, Treasurer Leslie Gold, Green Controller Neil Kaufman, and Coach Coordinator Alan Simons.
