Nick, the owner and skipper of Sturdy Girl, has an intimate knowledge and deep love for the Mersea coastline, having lived on Mersea Island for 29 years. He meticulously fitted out Sturdy Girl to meet commercial regulations and launched her in 2018. Nick obtained his necessary exams in 2021 with a commercial endorsement, allowing him to operate the boat within licensed limitations. Sturdy Girl is a 31ft Pro Charter Vayron, powered by a 315hp Yanmar engine capable of reaching speeds of up to 28 knots. It is YDSA coded to Cat 3 certification, ensuring the safety of passengers. The boat can accommodate 10 people including crew, within a 20-mile range from a safe haven. Aboard the vessel, you will find an off-deck WC, a heated wheelhouse, and all the required safety equipment.
Please note that any disorderly behaviour will not be tolerated, and the tour will immediately return to port if necessary. Boarding may be refused to anyone who appears to be intoxicated, without issuing a refund. In case of adverse weather conditions or a cancellation by the skipper, a full refund will be provided. However, if the customer cancels less than 48 hours before the trip, a refund cannot be offered. The boarding point is located at the end of the jetty on Coast Road, West Mersea, CO5 8PA. There is a small car park available by the jetty, and another one is situated opposite The Victory Public House. During the busy summer season, it is advisable to allow extra time for parking.
