The fishery is situated on the A600 just south of Dead Mans Cross, near Haynes in Bedfordshire. Muntjac, herons, hares, rabbits, kites, buzzards, and pheasants can all be spotted in the vicinity.
The lake itself is shaped like the letter 'n' and boasts crystal clear waters with an average depth of 11 feet. Some areas reach depths of 35 feet. The fish stocked in the lake are primarily trout, with a minimum weight of 2 pounds. The fishery introduces a selection of trout weighing 3, 4, and 5 pounds, as well as brown trout that can range anywhere from 3 to an impressive 18 pounds.
It is important to note that all trout weighing above 10 pounds must be released back into the water.
In addition to trout, the lake is home to some roach and rudd. These fish species contribute to a large population of fry, which serve as a food source for the trout. The lake also supports a thriving ecosystem of crayfish and mussels.
