Tai Chi Rutland is a reputable Tai Chi school located in Oakham, Rutland. The school offers classes in Tai Chi and Qi Gong for individuals of all levels of experience and physical abilities. With a mission to make Tai Chi accessible to as many people as possible, the school aims to promote the beautiful arts of Qi Gong and Tai Chi to enhance well-being and cultivate inner peace.
The founder of Tai Chi Rutland, Duncan, discovered his passion for Tai Chi and Qi Gong while living in France. Having practised Tai Chi for many years and experiencing its numerous benefits, he decided to deepen his knowledge and obtained teaching qualifications in both Tai Chi and Qi Gong from Tai Chi Nation in Devon. Continuing his training with Deyin Taijiquan Institute and the British Health Qigong Association, Duncan has become an instructor member of these esteemed organisations led by Faye and Tary Yip.
Tai Chi Rutland offers regular classes on Zoom as well as in various halls across Rutland and Leicestershire. Private venue classes are also available. The school also provides bespoke training for corporates and charities in the region, including seated Tai Chi. Duncan teaches the Yang lineage style, which is the most popular style of Tai Chi worldwide.
For beginners, he teaches the Yang 8 and 16 forms, while more experienced practitioners can learn the Yang 24 form. In Qi Gong, many styles and sequences are taught, including the Gold Standard “Shi Ba Shi” with 18 movements, Ba Duan Jin (8 Pieces of Brocade), Yi Jin Jing, Mawangdui Daoyin, and fusions thereof.
Tai Chi and Qi Gong are not only physical exercises but also moving meditations that promote calmness, peace of mind, and overall well-being. The Yang Style forms taught at Tai Chi Rutland consist of graceful and flowing movements that help bring the mind back into the body, reduce stress, and create inner harmony and calmness. Qigong, on the other hand, is an easy-to-learn system of energy-enhancing exercises that coordinate movement with breathing and inner concentration. Regular practise of Qigong can increase energy, improve health, and prevent illnesses.
It relaxes the muscles and nervous system, improving the overall function of the body's systems, as well as benefiting posture, balance, and flexibility of joints.
Tai Chi Rutland is proud to be a member of the British Health QiGong Association and operates in association with the Deyin Taijiquan Institute. Duncan looks forward to sharing his love for Tai Chi and Qi Gong with students of all ages and levels of experience.
