Maddi here from Christchurch Recreation & Sport Centres. Just wanted to give you the low-down on what's happening at Te Pou Toetoe: Linwood Pool. Maddi's been working hard to make sure this place is buzzing with activities for everyone.

Te Pou Toetoe: Linwood Pool is smack dab in the heart of Christchurch and is welcoming to all ages, cultures, and abilities. The aim is simple: to help promote better physical and social health for a stronger, happier Christchurch.

Here's the scoop on what you can do at the pool. Families, the kids' water play deck is an absolute hit – safe and fun for the young ones to splash around. For those looking to keep fit, there are aqua fitness classes that offer low-impact exercise in the water. If you're more about the chill vibes, the family spa is a great spot to relax while watching the giant splashes in the manu pool.

Not into swimming? No worries. Maddi's got you covered with group fitness classes in the Weka room, which cater to various fitness levels and interests. You can also hire the pool for events, sports training, or tournaments. Just hit up Christchurch Recreation and Sport Centres for details on pool hire.

Facilities at Te Pou Toetoe include free wifi, ample parking and bike stands, secure lockers, and rooms for hire for meetings or events. The place is wheelchair accessible and even has a sport shop for any gear you might need.

A little heads up on the timings: On "Women's Wednesdays," the pool opens at 3:00 pm. The lane pool and other amenities have different hours throughout the week, so there's plenty of flexibility to fit your schedule.

Te Pou Toetoe: Linwood Pool is at 141 Smith Street, Linwood, Christchurch. If you're coming by bus, numbers 5, 80, 140, 155, and the Orbiter will get you there.

Now, let's talk pool options. There’s a 25-metre lane pool with six lanes, a teach pool for swimming lessons, a toddler pool, and a wet deck with water toys for the little ones. The family spa is perfect for unwinding, and the manu pool offers some great splashes to watch.

Swimming lessons for both kids and adults are available through the Swimsmart programme, focusing on water safety and confidence. These are held during school terms and holidays, and adult lessons are free if you're a Pool or Gym & Pool member.

For those who love group workouts, there's Aqua Fit for a medium to high-intensity workout, Aqua HIIT for a more intense 35-minute session, and Move & Mingle Aqua for the over-60s who want to stay active and social. Other classes on the offer include Zumba, Core Zone, Gentle Exercise, and Yoga Foundation.
