The Aqua Clinic, located in Shipley, offers comprehensive SCUBA diving training and swimming lessons for all abilities. With over 25 years of experience, Garry, the founder of The Aqua Clinic, has a passion for teaching and has created a welcoming and inclusive environment for individuals to learn and grow.
Previously teaching scuba diving in Cyprus, Garry returned to the United Kingdom and established Duck and Dive, initially conducting theory lessons from his grandmother's cellar in Eccleshill in Bradford. As the demand increased, Duck and Dive relocated to a static caravan at Moor Valley Park in Hawksworth, near Baildon, where it served as the academic training base for six years.
In the early years, practical teaching took place at the Shipley dive pool, but due to time limitations, the operations were eventually moved to Tong Pool, with lessons being held twice a week on Thursdays and Saturdays. However, when Bradford Metropolitan District Council closed the pool, Garry made a pivotal decision to build his own pool in Shipley to ensure complete control over facilities and availability.
With this decision, The Aqua Clinic was born and has been providing exceptional training and instruction for the past ten years. The facility offers state-of-the-art equipment and a comfortable learning environment, ensuring that students receive the highest quality training and experience.
For swimming lessons, Duck and Dive offers a paid assessment lesson during the first week to evaluate the abilities of the child or adult. Following the assessment, individuals can enrol in a four-week block of lessons, where Swim England award schemes are utilised to track progress. At the end of the term, optional certificates are offered for a small additional fee. Those who wish to discontinue lessons are required to provide a two-week written notice, allowing the clinic to offer the freed-up space to other individuals.
To provide convenience and flexibility, The Aqua Clinic is open seven days a week, with varying opening times throughout the week. Lessons are typically 30 minutes per session and are scheduled based on availability. The clinic is dedicated to providing a safe and enjoyable experience for all participants.
