The Cottage, Earl Sterndale

We wanted to share some exciting news about Lilac Cottage, a cosy retreat nestled in the heart of Earl Sterndale, not far from Buxton. Alex, our dedicated organiser, invites you to enjoy a comfortable stay in this charming spot.

Lilac Cottage maintains many of its original features like exposed beams and stone flagged flooring. Bed linen and towels are provided, and check-in is typically on a Friday. If you’d prefer a different check-in day, just reach out to us.

Inside, you'll find a spacious living area with a wood-burning stove, comfy seating, and a dining table. The kitchen is fully equipped with modern amenities including a microwave, refrigerator, and oven/stove. There’s also WiFi, a TV with Freeview, and a Bluetooth FM radio. Upstairs boasts two double bedrooms, both with exposed beams adding unique character.

Please be aware there’s an iron spiral staircase, so it’s best to check the photographs to see if it suits your needs.

Outside, there's a small garden where you can enjoy the fresh air. A summerhouse includes a barbecue, washing machine, and space for bicycles, accessed via the path through neighbouring gardens.

The cottage comes with essentials like pots, pans, dishes, silverware, and basic pantry items like oil, salt, and pepper. You'll also find a hairdryer, hangers, fire extinguisher, first aid kit, and smoke detectors. For your convenience, there’s central heating, plenty of hot water, and a washing machine.

For those needing to work, there’s a laptop-friendly workspace. Free on-street parking is available too.

Earl Sterndale is a picturesque village in the Upper Dove Valley, a great base to explore the stunning Peak District. Whether you fancy hiking, cycling, or just a peaceful escape, there’s something for everyone. Nearby attractions include High Wheeldon, Parkhouse Hill, Chrome Hill, and the Roaches.

For a more relaxed pace, the quiet roads and nearby Tissington and High Peak Trails offer gentle routes for cyclists and walkers.
