The Pickering Academy

The Pickering Academy of Dance, commonly known as PAD, is a renowned dance school located in the vibrant city of Sheffield. Established for over 35 years, PAD is based at the Newton Hall in Chapeltown and has built a strong reputation in providing exceptional dance education and training for students of all ages and abilities.

Founded in 1985 by the late Melanie Pickering FIDTA, PAD has become a dedicated dance family, nurturing students' passion for dance and helping them achieve their dreams of a career in the dance industry or simply the joy of performing and making new friends.

Classes at PAD are held within a fun and caring environment, where each student is encouraged to build self-confidence and express themselves through the art of dance. The school takes great pride in its students' excellent results in IDTA examinations and their numerous achievements in various competitions, including regional championships.

Throughout the year, PAD showcases the incredible talent of its students in fairs and shows, providing them with valuable performance skills and the confidence to take on future endeavours in the dance world. PAD offers a wide range of classes, including Ballet, Tap, Modern Jazz, PBT (Progressing Ballet Technique), Acrobatic Arts, Musical Theatre, and private lessons. This diverse selection ensures that there is something for everyone who loves to dance, regardless of their age or experience level.

The PAD team is made up of highly trained and experienced teachers who are dedicated to helping their students reach their full potential. The school also offers additional opportunities for students to enhance their training through associate programmes, such as Renaissance Arts Scholars, Perform Like A Pro, and Mission Inspire.

PAD students have excelled in various dance festivals and competitions, earning numerous medals and trophies. Some students have even achieved top 6 finals status in TDCI Championships, as well as Champion status in ballet and modern categories. This outstanding performance has led to several students being invited to prestigious events such as the TDCI Champion of Champions in Blackpool.
