The BRAT Club is thrilled to bring back Thursday Night Open Water Swimming for summer at the Upper Bittell Reservoir and Barnt Green Sailing Club. This fantastic session is exclusively open to current BRAT members and is organised and run by dedicated BRAT members and volunteers.
If you're interested in participating, all you need to do is visit the BRAT Club training page and register on Clubspark for training and membership. Starting from mid-May until early September, swimmers can dive into the refreshing open water from [time] every Thursday at the picturesque Upper Bittell Reservoir, a stunning nature reserve. We're really fortunate to have access to this amazing venue, where we've set up a 500m loop course that will surely make your swim experience unforgettable.
Each session is open for 90 minutes, giving swimmers the flexibility to choose their own distance and make the most out of their time in the water. By booking a session, swimmers acknowledge and agree with our Swimmer Responsibility Statement, emphasising the importance of safety and following the rules.
To make sure everyone stays safe, we have a certified Open Water Qualified lifeguard present throughout the session. We've also made arrangements for a safety powerboat and spotter, ready to provide support whenever needed. Upon entry to the water, swimmers will be given a wristband, which should be returned upon leaving. It is absolutely mandatory to stick to the designated course and to follow the instructions given by the lifeguard and boat driver.
