Classes are held on Monday evenings at the Winnersh Club, Sunday mornings at the Tilehurst Club, and Sunday afternoons at the Lower Earley Club.
The club's class schedule is designed to cater to various belt levels. Beginners have dedicated time slots where they can develop their balance, coordination, self-confidence, and discipline. The classes progressively move on to blue belts to green belts, purple belts to brown and white belts, brown and red belts, and black belts.
TISKA Karate Reading welcomes both children and adults, and families are encouraged to join. The minimum age requirement for participants is 4 years. The club offers a special beginners' offer, allowing new members to enjoy a free two-week trial to experience the benefits of Karate training.
For beginners' classes, participants are advised to wear loose clothing such as a T-shirt, jogging or track suite bottoms, or shorts. It is recommended to bring a drink of water or juice for after the class. Upon arrival, individuals will be greeted by the club's secretary or instructor and registered in. The beginner's class is conducted at a relaxed pace, with all moves broken down and explained step by step for easy understanding.
Parents have the opportunity to train and learn alongside their children in the same class, fostering a sense of togetherness. TISKA Karate Reading is also open to individuals with special educational needs, as Karate can help to relax and focus the mind.
After the beginner's classes, the instructor will explain the cost of ongoing classes and provide information on grading costs (belt exams) and the licencing fee. Participants are not required to purchase the Karate uniform (Gi) after their first class, as the instructor will discuss the cost and sizes at a later stage.
The TISKA Karate Reading website features a gallery showcasing the club's activities and achievements, as well as sections for news and events, class details, club gradings, and contact information. The website is user-friendly and designed in-house to enhance the overall user experience.
