The club is proud to have Gursharan Sahota as its Chief Instructor. Gursharan's journey in the martial arts began at the age of 14 when he joined a local Bedford club in the United Kingdom. After four years of dedicated training, he achieved the black belt 1st dan (shodan) and eventually reached the impressive rank of 8th Dan. Throughout his career, Gursharan has competed in numerous kata and kumite events, including national and international competitions.

However, his most significant achievement was his trip to Japan in 1984, where he had the opportunity to train under the instruction of Sensei Hirokazu Kanazawa in a traditional Japanese dojo. This experience served as a turning point in Gursharan's life, inspiring him to devote himself to the training and teaching of karate as a way of life.

Gursharan's passion for karate led him to establish TISKA in 1993. The Traditional International Shotokan Karate Association has since become one of the largest karate associations in the UK. Gursharan's dedication to teaching is evident, as he currently teaches over 35 classes per week in the UK and conducts master classes internationally. Over the years, he has guided numerous students of all ages to achieve black belt status and beyond.

He is also actively involved in charity work, helping to fund surgeries for underprivileged children in third world countries and supporting various projects in India, including the construction of a new school.
