The area is known for its impressive south-facing wall, which provides shade during the summer months. With a jungle-like atmosphere, climbers are treated to a unique and immersive experience as they scale the cliffs.

Access to the Vesuvius climbing area was previously regulated by the landowner; however, recent discussions with the general store owners have confirmed that climbers no longer need to seek permission. It is important to note that the gate leading up to the treatment plant must be closed, as there are cattle roaming the field. Respecting the property and leaving it undisturbed is essential for maintaining access to this climbing area.

This road becomes less visible as it is covered by grass, so climbers must be vigilant.

Following the fence line and passing through barbed wire, climbers will head south along the grassy flats until they reach the fire trail. Continuing uphill and following the trail, climbers will encounter an obvious rock cairn that marks the way up to the cliff face. After navigating through fallen trees and slippery slopes, climbers will reach The Black Wall, the main cliff face at Vesuvius.

The Vesuvius climbing area was discovered by Cujes and Smits in the midst of the scorching summer of 2013/2014.
