This unique golf course is home to a variety of wildlife, including deer, elk, moose, and occasional cougar and bear sightings. It is also a hub for more than 1,400 forms of flora, with many species not found anywhere else in Alberta, making it a popular destination for nature lovers.

The history of Waterton Lakes Golf Course dates back to 1922, when the original 9 holes were opened to the public. Due to increasing demand, a second nine holes were added, and on Canada Day in 1935, the course expanded to 18 holes. Renowned Golf Course Architect Stanley Thompson provided input for further improvements in the 1950s, enhancing the overall playability and esthetics of the course.

Managed by PGA of Canada Head Vince Cianfagna and CGSA Course Superintendent Dylan Hogue, Waterton Lakes Golf Course offers a range of facilities including an 18-hole golf course, a restaurant with a patio and lounge, lesson programs, power car rentals, and club and cart rentals. The course operates seasonally from May to October, weather permitting.

Golfers can avail themselves of various rates and packages, such as green fees for all players, special rates for juniors and twilight hours, multi-use passes for frequent visitors, and seasonal passes for individuals, couples, and youth. Power cart rentals, pull carts, and rental clubs are also available for added convenience.

To ensure an enjoyable experience for all golfers, Waterton Lakes Golf Course has a strict course policy in place. Proper attire, including shirts and appropriate shoes, must be worn at all times. Tee time reservations can be made up to 14 days in advance either in person, online, or by calling the pro shop. Additionally, golfers are encouraged to maintain a reasonable pace of play to ensure everyone's round is enjoyable.
