Watford Fencing Club

Watford Fencing Club is a sports club and fencing school located in Rickmansworth, Hertfordshire. Established in 1957, it is the oldest fencing club in the area and has a rich history of welcoming fencers of all abilities. With over 40 members, the club offers training in all three weapons: foil, pe, and sabre.

Beginners courses offer a more comprehensive learning experience, with 10 weeks of group coaching and the opportunity to earn a British Fencing L2 certificate and one-year BF Membership upon completion.

Head coach Daren Tee focuses on coaching foil and sabre, while Lajos Fazekas covers all three weapons on the second Wednesday of every month. Chris Gregory and Andy Ross oversee the taster and beginners courses, with Chris bringing over 35 years of fencing experience and Andy boasting connexions to celebrities like Iron Maiden's Bruce Dickinson and James Bond's Pierce Brosnan and Madonna.

Recent highlights include the successful hosting of the first Club Championship and BBQ since the Covid pandemic, where the skill of recent beginners course graduates impressed everyone. The club has also received a philanthropic donation of fencing equipment, showing the generosity and support of its community.
