And is known for its vibrant and inclusive community. The club offers a wide range of sailing activities, including racing, training, and social events.

Located on the south side of Oulton Broad in Nicholas Everitt Park, the club enjoys stunning views of the entire sailing area. The grounds feature three balconies where members can relax and take in the picturesque scenery. The club also provides excellent facilities, such as changing rooms, a canteen, and a large bar area on the first floor. The race control office, fondly referred to as 'the box,' is also located on the first floor.

For mooring convenience, the club offers two large floating pontoon jetties that make safe and easy mooring possible. Whether members are seasoned sailors or beginners, WOBYC is committed to providing a comfortable and enjoyable experience for everyone.

WOBYC takes great pride in being a club run by its members and for its members. Membership information can be found on the club's website, and the club encourages those interested to visit the “Become a Member” page or contact them for general inquiries.

The history of WOBYC dates back to before the Second World War when two sailing clubs, Waveney Sailing Club and Lowestoft & Oulton Broad Yacht Club, operated separately. In 1946, the clubs merged to form Waveney & Oulton Broad Yacht Club and established their current home in the corner of Nicholas Everitt Park. Over the years, the club has undergone several improvements to accommodate its growing membership. A new clubhouse was built in 1966, offering additional facilities such as a race control box, a canteen, toilet and changing rooms, and a lounge area.

The clubhouse has since been extended to include a bar area, a lounge for members and guests, and a balcony overlooking the racing area.

The WOBYC clubhouse is also utilised by various other organisations throughout the year. The Lowestoft & Oulton Broad Motor Boat Club runs powerboat racing on Thursday evenings and Bank Holidays during summer. The University of East Anglia Sailing Club has a fleet of boats based at the WOBYC and hosts weekend sailing activities. Waveney Sailability conducts accessible sailing sessions on Tuesday afternoons during the summer months.

Additionally, the Suffolk Fire Brigade utilises the clubhouse and the Broad for their water-based training sessions.

With its rich history and commitment to providing exceptional sailing experiences, Waveney & Oulton Broad Yacht Club remains a prominent sailing club in the broadland area. The club warmly welcomes visitors and new members to join the WOBYC community and indulge in the thrill of sailing on the stunning Oulton Broad.
