Follows: 24' in length, 38” beam, and a weight of approximately 70 kg. These touring boats are ideal for our recreational rowing activities and are suitable for rowers of all abilities.
In addition to our touring boats, we also have a fleet of racing boats which are available for experienced rowers to use during our “improvers” sessions and occasional fun competitions. These boats are lighter and faster than our touring boats and are designed for more competitive rowing.
At Weyfarers Rowing Club, we pride ourselves on providing a welcoming and inclusive environment for rowers of all levels. Whether you're a seasoned rower looking for a fun and social club to join or a complete beginner eager to learn the ropes, we have something for everyone.
We offer a range of courses throughout the year for those who are new to rowing or want to brush up on their skills. Our experienced coaches provide expert guidance and support, ensuring that you have a safe and enjoyable rowing experience.
In addition to regular outings and courses, we also organise day trips, mini-tours, and longer tours to various stretches of water in the UK. These tours provide an opportunity for our members to explore new rowing locations, enjoy picnics or pub lunches, and bond with fellow rowers.
As a social club, we place importance on creating a friendly and supportive community. We organise social events throughout the year, giving our members a chance to relax and connect with one another outside of rowing. We also encourage our members to participate in events organised by Weybridge Rowing Club, further fostering a sense of unity within the rowing community.
While we may not be a “racing” club, we do participate in occasional fun competitions and time trials that cater to stable boats suited for recreational rowers. These events allow our members to challenge themselves and showcase their skills in a supportive and enjoyable environment.
Safety is paramount at Weyfarers Rowing Club, and we adhere to strict safety guidelines to ensure the well-being of our rowers. We have experienced coxes and coaches who provide guidance and supervise all rowing activities. For this reason, we are unable to accommodate complete beginners in our regular rowing sessions, but we welcome beginners to join one of our courses to get started.
The timing of our outings may vary throughout the year due to daylight hours, and evening outings after dark are reserved for experienced rowers who have proper lighting equipment on their boats. We also have specific guidelines for our weekend sessions to ensure that everyone has a chance to participate.
In terms of our boat fleet, we have a variety of coxed quads, a coxed double scull, and a convertible triple scull/coxed double. Our “C” type coxed quads are specially designed for touring rowing and are widely used in the UK and abroad. They offer stability and comfort while still providing a similar rowing experience to racing boats. Our other boats cater to different preferences and rowing techniques, allowing our members to choose the best option for them.
So, if you're looking for a rowing club that prioritises fun, inclusivity, and socialising, Weyfarers Rowing Club is the perfect fit. Whether you're an experienced rower or brand new to the sport, we have the resources and support to help you achieve your rowing goals while enjoying the beauty of the Weybridge area. Join us today and discover the joy of recreational and touring rowing with Weyfarers Rowing Club.
