Willow Yoga is a well-established yoga instructor based in Tonbridge, Kent. Founded by Nicola, a passionate and experienced yoga practitioner, Willow Yoga aims to make the physical and mental benefits of yoga accessible to everyone.
Nicola's journey into yoga began over a decade ago when a friend suggested it as a remedy for her back pain caused by running. Instantly falling in love with yoga, Nicola embarked on a week-long retreat in Portugal and has been devoted to the practise ever since. With a background in teaching scuba diving, Nicola recognises the privilege of being able to turn her hobby into a career and share her passion with others.
Willow Yoga's classes in Tonbridge prioritise clear instructions and demonstrations to guide students in stretching, strengthening, and realigning their bodies. Nicola believes in using props like blocks, belts, and chairs to ensure that all poses are achievable for individuals of any level of flexibility, fitness, mobility, or age. Her approach to yoga is therapeutic, focusing on correcting imbalances in the body and promoting a freer flow of energy, which helps alleviate aches and pains.
To further enhance her expertise, Nicola completed additional training with The Minded Institute in 2018, specialising in Yoga Therapy and back pain. In 2021, she also became a qualified prenatal and postnatal yoga instructor with Island Ayurveda Yoga. Nicola's personal experience with a near-fatal car accident in 2020 and subsequent recovery using yoga and breathwork has deepened her practise and teaching. She understands how yoga can aid rehabilitation and adapt to the limitations of the body, providing valuable insights to her students.
At Willow Yoga, every day on the yoga mat is seen as a fresh journey for the body and mind, with each session offering new challenges. Nicola encourages her students to remember that yoga is a practise, not about achieving perfection. With her guidance and support, she invites individuals to embrace their own unique yoga journey.
