Wu Style Tai Chi Northcote is a renowned tai chi school located in Northcote, Victoria. Founded by Bruno Pasqualini, a qualified instructor with over 48 years of experience, the school aims to promote health, wellbeing, and harmony through the practise of tai chi.
Tai chi is not just a physical exercise but a holistic approach to maintaining a healthy lifestyle. It encompasses the mind and body, helping individuals achieve emotional well-being and physical health. Through regular practise, students can experience increased energy levels, a sense of calm, and a positive outlook on life.
Bruno Pasqualini started his tai chi journey under the guidance of Mr. Kwong Ken Yue (Rocky) in Melbourne in 1974. Master Kwong, a resident of Western Australia now, was a disciple of the renowned Master Cheng Tin Hung, making him a highly respected figure in the field of tai chi. Master Kwong continues to visit and teach at clubs affiliated with the Australasia Federation of Wu Style Tai Chi.
At Wu Style Tai Chi Northcote, Bruno Pasqualini teaches students of all levels, including beginners, intermediate, and advanced practitioners. The emphasis in the early stages is on the health benefits of tai chi, while at the advanced stage, more attention is given to the martial art aspect.
Beginners' classes are held on Wednesdays from 6 to 7 pm, and two semesters are conducted each year, starting in February and July. After completing the beginners' class, students can join the intermediate and advanced classes held on Mondays from 6 to 8:30 pm. The pricing for each session is $20, and classes are conducted once a week.
The teaching approach at Wu Style Tai Chi Northcote is focused on the Wu Style Tai Chi Chuan, which consists of 108 postures known as the Long Form. Beginners start by learning the Square Form, which involves breaking down the 108 postures into single, clear movements. Gradually, they progress to the Long Flowing River, where the movements become continuous and fluid, akin to a silk worm reeling silk.
Wu Style Tai Chi is characterised by its agility, smoothness, and continuity. The movements are structured to conform to the theory of mutual promotion of Yin and Yang. Notably, the Square Form is a distinctive feature of the Wu Style, providing an effective and clear pathway for beginners to learn the exercise.
Whether you are a beginner or an experienced practitioner, Wu Style Tai Chi Northcote offers a welcoming and supportive environment where you can embark on a fulfilling journey to improve your physical health, emotional well-being, and overall lifestyle.
