The Elwood Angling Club Inc. is a sports club located in Melbourne, Australia. Established in 1901, the club has a rich history and is proud of its contributions to the community and the sport of Angling. In 1939, the club relocated to its current location in Elwood and was rebuilt in 1957 after a fire.
The Elwood Angling Club is an inclusive club that welcomes members from all backgrounds and experience levels. The club aims to provide sustainable fishing education for its members and the wider community, while also acting as a custodian for the environment of Port Phillip Bay and the broader fishing community of Victoria.
Situated on the picturesque Elwood Foreshore, the club has excellent facilities for its members. The main hall offers beautiful views of the sea and can accommodate approximately 90 people. It is equipped with a kitchen and a smaller room, as well as male and female toilets. Below the main hall, there is a boathouse exclusively for members to store their boats.
The club also provides various amenities for its members, including tables, chairs, and trestle tables upon request. There are two fridges, a bar (members must supply their own alcohol), commercial-sized ovens, a microwave oven, and a food preparation area. The club has a BYO licence, allowing individuals to bring their own alcohol for personal consumption, but the sale or supply of alcohol is restricted to those with a relevant liquor licence.
To become a member of the Elwood Angling Club, individuals are expected to attend at least two fortnightly Thursday night meetings, starting at 8 pm. During these meetings, the Committee will consider their membership application, and if approved, applicants will be required to pay the applicable fees. The dates of upcoming meetings are listed on the club's website under the “Events” tab. For further information, potential members can contact the Honorary Secretary via email.
The Elwood Angling Club values its members' genuine interest in Angling and encourages them to actively participate in the club's activities. Members are expected to attend meetings, join competitions, suggest improvements, contribute ideas for guest speakers and activities, share fishing reports or news, assist with community events and working bees, and enjoy social activities organised by the club.
For more information about the Elwood Angling Club and its membership options, individuals can visit the club's website or follow them on social media platforms such as Facebook and Instagram.
