During the visit, the club representative will provide you with an application form. Once your application is received, it will be reviewed by the Committee, and if approved, you will be granted Provisional Membership status. As a provisional member, you will have access to club facilities and may participate in club matches and competitions under the supervision of a Range Officer. After six months of provisional membership, you may apply for full club membership.

Existing Category H Licence holders who wish to join the St Ives Pistol Club will need to complete the online application form and submit it along with a copy of their current Firearms Licence. Once your application is received, it will be reviewed by the Committee, and if approved, you will be granted full club membership. You will then have access to club facilities and may participate in club matches and competitions unsupervised.

All new members, regardless of their prior shooting experience, are required to complete a comprehensive training programme. This programme covers various aspects of shooting, including safe firearm handling, transport, and storage, individual responsibilities and obligations, club, range, and match procedures, and correct shooting techniques. A compliance record is maintained throughout the training programme, noting attendance, scores, and progress. At the conclusion of the programme, applicants undergo a written examination to assess their knowledge and understanding.

Members of St Ives Pistol Club have the opportunity to participate in a wide range of competitive matches and competitions. The club offers matches in Olympic disciplines, IPSC, Service Pistol, and Black Powder shooting. Members have the opportunity to compete at various levels, including club, state, national, and even international levels. The club has produced a number of past and present State Champions in different disciplines, highlighting the high level of skill and dedication among its members.
