Sydney University Taekwondo Club is a martial arts club located in Sydney, Australia. The club's main goal is to foster discipline, passion, and the five tenets of taekwondo in its members while also creating a strong sense of community. The club welcomes individuals who are interested in learning martial arts, building cardio, having fun, making friends, and staying active.
The five tenets of taekwondo that the club emphasises are courtesy, integrity, perseverance, self-control, and indomitable spirit. Members are encouraged to show courtesy and respect to others both inside and outside the training area, to have integrity and stand up for what is right, to persevere through challenges and obstacles, to have self-control in their actions and thoughts, and to possess an indomitable spirit when facing opposition.
The club prides itself on having highly qualified instructors to provide the best taekwondo experience for its members. One of their coaches, Sydney Yang, has been with the club since 2003 and has over 18 years of taekwondo experience. He teaches fundamental taekwondo and sparring training on Mondays and Fridays, catering to both beginners and experienced black belts. Another coach, Andy Yang, has been coaching at the club since 2018 and is a national representative for Poomsae.
He focuses on Poomsae technique and Strength & Conditioning on Thursdays.
