The studio, and if you prefer, you can bring your own mat for extra comfort.

The studio itself is located in Meeanee, Napier, offering a convenient and accessible location for residents of the area. The classes at Active Core are designed to cater to all fitness levels, whether you're a beginner or have been practising Pilates for years. The instructors ensure that each class is welcoming and inclusive, providing a judgement-free atmosphere for everyone to try new things and push their limits.

Classes at Active Core are kept small, with only 6–8 students per session. This allows for personalised attention and assistance from the trained Pilates instructor, Jessica Newcomb. Jessica, the founder of Active Core, has a background in fitness and rehabilitation, bringing a wealth of expertise to each class. With a Diploma in Pilates and a Diploma in Sport and Recreation, she is well-equipped to guide and support students on their Pilates journey.

Each class at Active Core lasts for 45 minutes and is thoughtfully designed to keep members engaged and challenged. Every second month, there is an equipment-based workout month, where Pilates Rings, small balls, resistance bands, and dumbbells are incorporated into the sessions. This variety keeps the classes exciting and helps participants progress on their Pilates journey. In alternate months, general mat exercises are emphasised to provide a well-rounded Pilates experience.

For those who prefer to do Pilates at home or while they are away on holiday, Active Core also offers an Online studio. Members can access a variety of workouts through the Online page, allowing them to stay consistent in their practise wherever they may be.

What sets Active Core apart from other Pilates studios is the emphasis on creating a social atmosphere. Jessica believes in the power of connexion and actively encourages members to chat and create friendships during sessions. The studio becomes a supportive community where everyone can be as social as they want, fostering a sense of camaraderie among participants.

The studio facilities at Active Core are designed with comfort and convenience in mind. All the necessary equipment, including weights and additional aids, are provided for each session. However, if you prefer to use your own mat, you are more than welcome to bring it along. If you have any injuries or spinal problems, it is recommended that you inform the studio in advance so that accommodations can be made to ensure your comfort during the session.

As Active Core continues to grow, Jessica envisions expanding the studio into a Wellness space in the future, offering a range of different services. For now, the focus remains on providing high-quality Pilates classes in a welcoming and supportive environment. Whether you're looking to try Pilates for the first time or are a seasoned practitioner, Active Core in Napier is the place for you to improve your core strength, flexibility, and overall well-being.
