Barefoot Yoga, a popular Yoga club in Gloucester, is excited to announce their upcoming event – Pregnancy Yoga courses suitable for expectant mothers from 14 weeks until the birth of their baby. Held at the Longlevens Community Centre in Church Road, GL2 0AJ, these classes occur on Thursday evenings from 7.30 to 8.45 pm.
One of the standout features of these classes is their intimate size, ensuring personal attention while fostering a friendly group dynamic among Mums-to-be. During the sessions, participants will have the opportunity to learn yoga-based postures, breathing techniques, and the principles of active birth, all under the expert guidance of our experienced instructors.
To make the most of these classes, participants are requested to bring their own exercise ball (75 cm size), which can easily be purchased from popular retailers such as Argos, eBay, Amazon, or sports shops. It's important to inflate the ball until it is firm and hard to touch. For utmost comfort, it is recommended to wear loose, comfortable clothing and bring a mat and cushion for relaxation, if desired. Yoga blocks will be provided.
Now, let's talk about the rates for these courses. For a 6-week block, the cost is £65. However, if you're keen to commit to a longer period and enjoy more savings, you have the option of booking 2 consecutive blocks (12 weeks) for £120, saving you a fantastic £10. In terms of payment, it is required before the first class for new students and on the last session of the previous 6-week block for existing students. Payment can be made via bacs transfer or cash.
At Barefoot Yoga, we understand that each individual's needs are unique. Therefore, we also offer one-to-one tuition tailored specifically to your requirements. This personalised session can take place either in the comfort of your own home or at a suitable venue, depending on your preference. The cost of this individual session is £40, lasting for 1 hour. To make things even more enticing, we offer the first session at a special price of £30. If a venue is required, there will be an additional charge of £5.
We also want to address some important considerations. Firstly, please note that there are no refunds for missed classes or classes that you cannot attend due to limited spaces. However, we do offer the flexibility of making up one session per 6-week block by attending an extra class or receiving a credit towards an individual lesson in certain circumstances. Additionally, if your baby is due before the end of the block, the fee will be adjusted accordingly.
Now, let's talk about the importance of attending these antenatal care classes, including those like the Barefoot Yoga for Pregnancy. It is your right as an employee to take time off work to attend such classes, and your employer cannot unreasonably refuse you paid time off during working hours. This includes the time spent travelling to and from these appointments. Parent craft and relaxation classes are considered a vital part of antenatal care.
To ensure a smooth process, it may be beneficial to provide proof from your GP or midwife, verifying that these classes are indeed a necessary part of your care. We encourage you to request the time off rather than assuming it can be taken, as your employer has the right to ask for proof from your healthcare provider regarding your antenatal care appointment. If, for any reason, your employer refuses time off or fails to provide payment for the time off, you can make a complaint to an employment tribunal. Furthermore, if you believe their actions constitute sex discrimination and/or pregnancy and maternity discrimination, you may be able to pursue a legal claim. Seeking advice from your trade union or a specialist legal adviser is recommended in such situations.
Please bear in mind that these rights apply to employees rather than workers, and they commence from the start of your employment, without any minimum qualifying service required.
