Gore Karate Club is a prestigious karate school located in Gore, New Zealand. The club is situated in the building right beside Gore Bridge, at the former site of Old Gore High School.
The club was founded by Sensei Dave Liddicoat in 1976, and has since become a prominent institution for karate training in the local community. The instructors at Gore Karate Club are led by Shane Taylor, who holds the rank of Nidan (2nd Dan). With their expertise and guidance, students can expect to receive top-notch instruction in the art of karate.
Gore Karate Club offers training sessions for both juniors and seniors. Junior classes are held on Mondays from 6:00 pm to 7:00 pm and on Wednesdays from 6:00 pm. Senior classes take place on Mondays from 7:00 pm to 8:30 pm and on Wednesdays from 7:30 pm. These regular training times ensure that all students have the opportunity to develop their skills and progress in their karate journey.
In addition to the regular classes, Gore Karate Club also hosts various events and gasshukus throughout the year. These events provide students with the opportunity to learn from renowned karate masters and participate in black belt gradings. Upcoming events include the North Island Gasshuku in March 2024 and the IOGKF Australian National Gasshuku with Yamashiro Sensei in March 2024.
Gore Karate Club is a proud member of the International Okinawan Goju-Ryu Karate-do Federation of New Zealand (IOGKFNZ). This affiliation highlights the club's commitment to practising and promoting traditional Goju-Ryu Karate. The IOGKFNZ is the largest Goju-Ryu Karate body in New Zealand and is affiliated with the International Okinawan Goju-Ryu Karate-do Federation (IOGKF) led by World Chief Instructor Nakamura Tetsuji Sensei.
