Since the 1950s, Hednesford has hosted a wide range of racing events, featuring Stock Cars, Hot Rods, Bangers, and various other attractions. The venue is renowned for hosting some of the biggest events in short oval racing. The annual Bill Morris Veterans Day and Civil War events attract huge grids of cars racing to destruction, while the Midlands' biggest firework display lights up the sky every Bonfire weekend. Another highlight is the annual National Championship Weekend in early August, which showcases top-class racing talent. Additionally, the Caravan Grand Prix on May Day Bank Holiday Monday offers an action-packed experience that attracts a massive crowd.
The racetrack was constructed in 1952, utilising the area of a former reservoir. The quarter-mile length oval track features two steeply banked corners and a tarmac track surface enclosed by an armco safety fence. Situated at the base of a large “bowl” within Cannock Chase, the track offers excellent viewing opportunities from its grass banks and two covered grandstands. Families can enjoy the facilities provided, ensuring an enjoyable day out at the races.
Conveniently located just one mile from the town of Hednesford, the raceway is easily accessible from the M6, M6 Toll, and A5. Tickets for events can be purchased in advance for a discounted price online or at the turnstiles on the day of the event, with various payment methods accepted. Gates typically open three hours before the start time, and the first race commences at the advertised start time.
The admission prices for general admission, concession (for those aged 66 and over), and children (up to 14 years old) vary. Advanced E-Tickets can be obtained at a discounted rate, while children aged 14 and under must be accompanied by a full paying adult. Additional charges apply for parking and the event programme.
