Nomads Chess Club

Nomads Chess Club, under the leadership of Mark Smith in Nottingham, is a longstanding fixture in the Nottinghamshire Chess League. The club opens its doors to chess players of all abilities every Monday evening at The Embankment Pub, 282-284 Arkwright Street, Nottingham, NG2 2GR, from 7:30pm to 11pm, excluding bank holidays.

Mark ensures that Nomads Chess Club remains one of the few clubs in Nottingham that stays active throughout the summer, offering a consistent haven for chess enthusiasts. The club welcomes beginners seeking informal games, online players desiring face-to-face interactions, members of other local chess clubs looking for extra practice, and NTU students in need of a chess community.

For those interested in competitive play, Mark has facilitated opportunities through three teams in the Nottinghamshire Chess League, competing in Divisions 2, 3, and 4. Members are encouraged to engage in league chess as soon as they feel prepared.
