John Smith, a highly skilled and experienced martial artist with a deep passion for Chinese martial arts. With a commitment to promoting healthy living through traditional Chinese martial arts, Ringwood Martial Arts Academy offers a variety of classes to suit all ages and fitness levels.
The academy specialises in teaching various styles of Kung Fu, carefully selected from the founder's 40 years of training. These styles include Wing Chun, known for its effective close-range fighting techniques and famous 1-inch punch, Praying Mantis, a ferocious self-defence system known for its blinding speed and incredible strength, Choy Li Fut, a combination of devastating kicks and powerful punches, and Chang Chuan, a system of powerful and free-spirited techniques.
In addition to Kung Fu, the academy also offers Chinese Kickboxing classes, which are an exciting type of aerobic and anaerobic cardio workout. Chinese Kickboxing is one of the fastest growing forms of exercise in the UK and combines the best techniques of self-defence with explosive punching, kicking, and wrestling skills of traditional Kung Fu. Participants in these classes will not only improve their strength, self-confidence, and overall fitness but also experience the joy of hitting pads and feeling great.
For those looking for a more meditative and gentle form of martial arts, Ringwood Martial Arts Academy also offers Tai Chi classes. Suitable for adults of all ages, Tai Chi is a traditional Chinese exercise that results in improved fitness and health. It is also a profound martial art, a way of cultivating intrinsic energy of the body (qi), and a form of meditation. The academy starts with teaching the Yang style, which is the most suitable form for beginners.
The academy strongly believes that juniors can greatly benefit from martial arts training in various ways. Therefore, they offer junior classes on Saturdays from 9:30 am to 10:30 am. These classes provide a safe and structured environment for children to learn self-defence, improve their fitness, gain confidence, and develop discipline and focus.
The history of Ringwood Martial Arts Academy is deeply rooted in the lineage of GrandMaster Liu Yun Qiao, the former head trainer to the bodyguards of President Chiang Kai Shek. In 1966, GrandMaster Liu retired and named his school Wutan, passing down his skills to twelve disciples. One of his favourite students, Master Wu Song Fa, continued GrandMaster Liu's legacy and developed a high level of expertise in Chinese martial arts. Master Wu's dedication and knowledge have been passed down to the instructors at Ringwood Martial Arts Academy, ensuring that students receive instruction from highly skilled and knowledgeable practitioners.
Led by senior instructor John Smith, Ringwood Martial Arts Academy strives to create a welcoming and inclusive environment for all students. With a focus on both physical and mental well-being, the academy's classes promote the development of discipline, self-confidence, and overall fitness. Whether you are a beginner or an experienced martial artist, Ringwood Martial Arts Academy is dedicated to helping you achieve your goals and unlock your full potential.
