Founded on November 24, 1996, the Thiruvallur District Chess Association (TVLRDCA) has been a cornerstone of the chess community in Tamil Nadu. Located at No. 20, Prakasam Street, B.V. Puram, Avadi, Chennai - 54, the association has a rich history of nurturing young chess talents and hosting prestigious tournaments. Originally known as Chengai MGR District, the association's evolution mirrors the changing political landscape, always striving to promote the game of chess.
The maiden team of office bearers laid a strong foundation, conducting numerous district selection tournaments and coaching programs, propelling many players to represent the district at state-level championships. The association's second term saw even greater achievements, including the successful hosting of the first National Under 18 Boys and Girls Championship. This national event, with participants from 24 states, earned TVLRDCA recognition for its impeccable organization and commitment to excellence.
