Starting in the Red Triangle League, the club has progressed to the West Yorkshire League leading Division, which is a direct feeder league into the Northern Counties. The club's first team competes at this level, while the reserve team competes in the West Yorkshire League Alliance Division One, which is the highest reserves standard in Yorkshire.

In 2006/07, they emerged victorious in the Barkston Ash District FA Cup. In 2009/10, Headingley AFC claimed the West Yorkshire League Alliance Division 2 championship.
