Welcome to Matlock and District Swimming Club (MADSC)! Located in the heart of Matlock, we are a community club that offers teaching and coaching for swimmers who can swim 25m. At MADSC, we pride ourselves on our inclusivity, nurturing those who wish to compete while supporting swimmers who simply want to be part of our swimming family.
We are fortunate to train at The Arc, a state-of-the-art 8-lane facility run by Freedom Leisure. With a wide range of training sessions available throughout the week, including morning training, we aim to provide flexibility and sustainability within your swimming journey. We have a diverse membership with swimmers at various stages of development, as well as a strong group of adult swimmers ranging from beginners to triathletes and even National Champions.
If you're interested in joining us, we offer taster sessions for newcomers. Our coaches and teachers are fully qualified, and we hold a Swim Mark Stronger Affiliation standard with Swim England. We also collaborate with Freedom Leisure on Wednesdays to offer a smooth transition from their swimming lessons into club swimming, fostering a lifelong love for swimming.
Swimming offers not only health and fitness benefits but also supports mental well-being. At MADSC, we work closely with teenagers and young adults, assisting them in gaining qualifications and industry-standard awards, such as lifeguard and teaching qualifications. We believe in providing a holistic approach to swimming and supporting our members in both their athletic and personal development.
Matlock and District Swimming Club has a rich history, dating back to 1938 when the pool in Matlock was an outdoor Lido. Since then, we have evolved and grown, swimming under a roof in the 1960s before relocating to the new state-of-the-art facility at the Arc in 2011. Our club committee is run entirely by volunteers, and we are always looking for new helpers who want to give back to the community.
