About the Venue The Greyfriars Community Centre provides a welcoming and comfortable space for our chess club meetings. We have access to two rooms, the Megan Holman room and the Hilary Christie Room, where we gather every Monday evening from 7:00 pm. Our club has been recognised for having one of the best venues in the region. Our Leagues and Services Ringwood Chess Club participates in various leagues, including the Southampton, Dorset, and Bournemouth and District Leagues.
We offer our members the opportunity to play both competitive league matches and casual games. Whether you're a beginner looking to improve your skills or an experienced league player, Ringwood Chess Club welcomes players of all levels. We are proud to be the nearest chess club to many of the surrounding towns and villages, making us easily accessible to players from Fordingbridge, Verwood, Burley, St Leonards, West Moors, and Ferndown. Our Achievements In 2023, Ringwood Chess Club was honoured with the prestigious English Chess Federation Small Club of the Year award.
This accolade recognises our club's efforts in promoting chess, developing players, and running successful events. We have since expanded our membership, but we still maintain the friendly and personal atmosphere that has welcomed every new member. com. Our membership year runs from 1st July, and all members are required to also be members of Greyfriars. Membership fees are as follows: - Full membership: 60 per year plus 20 per year Greyfriars membership. — Student membership: 20 per year plus 20 per year Greyfriars membership (for those aged 18 or over).

Members who wish to participate in leagues must also be members of the English Chess Federation (ECF), Bronze or above. It is the responsibility of the member to ensure that their ECF membership is up-to-date before playing in matches. The cost of ECF membership is not covered by the club, and details can be found on the ECF website. Finding Us We play our chess matches and meetings at the Greyfriars Community Centre in Ringwood.
If you are arriving by car, please park in the Blynkbonnie car park, which is free in the evening. The car park is located at Christchurch Rd, Ringwood, BH24 3AS. You will find a gap in the wall on the left-hand side of the car park. Simply walk through this gap, and you will find yourself in the courtyard of the Greyfriars Community Centre.
