They also strive to blend the pathways between grassroots athletics and the elite level with the goal of promoting longevity of careers.

The club was founded by two prominent figures in Australian athletics, Leanne Hines-Smith and Glynis Nunn-Cearns. Leanne, a Level 4 accredited coach, has been involved in coaching and administration within the sport for over 35 years. She has been recognised for her service to School Sport and is a current Board Member of Queensland Athletics. Glynis, with a long and distinguished sporting career, is a former heptathlon gold medallist at the Brisbane Commonwealth Games and Los Angeles Olympic Games.

She has received numerous accolades for her service to athletics and is currently a Board Member of GOLDOC 2018. Together, Leanne and Glynis have brought their wealth of experience and knowledge to create Ignition Athletics Club.
