Located in one of Melbourne's Bayside towns, Mentone Athletic Club has a rich history dating back to its founding in 1942. With a strong focus on camaraderie, fitness, and fun, the club welcomes senior athletes aged 13 and above, regardless of their fitness levels and abilities. Mentone Athletic Club offers coaching for various summer and winter events, including middle distance running, sprinting, pole vault, hammer, discus, and other throwing and jumping events. The club takes pride in having internationally competitive athletes who are always ready to offer guidance and support to their fellow Mentone athletes.
Throughout the year, the club's teams and athletes compete in the Athletics Victoria Shield League, as well as the Victorian and Australian Track and Field Championships. Additionally, they participate in the XCR Athletics Victoria leading Cross Country and Road series during winter. The club provides a supportive environment for serious athletes to train, with highly qualified and experienced coaches. Additionally, Mentone Athletic Club is honoured to support and cater to athletes of all abilities, including paralympians.
The club offers several services and programmes to its members, including access to the fully equipped Mentone Athletics Centre (Dolamore) for training. Members have priority access to Dolamore on specific days and times. The club also provides a panel of highly qualified and experienced coaches who cover a wide range of running, throws, jumps, vaulting, and race walking. Information about specific coaches, their contact details, and availability can be found on the Mentone Athletic Club website.
Fitness and conditioning programmes are available to all members, with a particular focus on youth athletes aged up to 18 years. These programmes take place on Sundays at the Mentone track and aim to enhance fitness and conditioning in preparation for the next summer track season. Older and more experienced athletes of all abilities can also benefit from tailored programmes, which can be found on the Training page of the club's website. Special arrangements can be made for field events coaches to attend specific sessions during the winter off-season, providing an opportunity for members to try different events.
For any purchases or payments related to the club, the bank account details are provided. Membership payments and renewals, however, are made directly through the Athletics Victoria portal. The Mentone Athletic Club is committed to providing a supportive and inclusive environment for athletes, contributing to their overall development and success.
